Let’s talk before your talk
First of all, I’d like to thank you very much for taking part in the upcoming Listen to Your Art and for finding the time to share your stories. In the next few steps, I’ll tell you a bit more about the idea behind the meetup, give you some tips on how you can structure your presentation, explain the timeline, and let you know what to expect. I promise it won’t take more than 5 minutes. Let’s go!
Let Your Art Speak
Listen to Your Art was born out of a need for a different kind of meetup.
I’m talking about space where people can meet, connect, and share—without the usual pressure of pitching achievements or proving themselves.
Rather than competition, the focus is on inspiration and empowerment. On storytelling, personal perspectives, and the many influences that shape us as artists.
Share it with uS
What you choose to share with us is entirely up to you, but here are a few tips to help make your talk unforgettable:
This is not a pitch — it’s a personal story of an artist.
Talk about your artistic journey, your motivations, your doubts, your ups and downs, your creative process, and the forces that keep you creating.
Let’s inspire each other with insights that make the journey richer and more exciting.
You’ve got so many stories to tell, but don’t know which one to choose?
Try to find an event in your life that influenced you artistically the most and build your talk around it.
Or tell us why you make your art and what’s so exciting about it. Maybe you have an artistic hobby — like collecting old postcards, taking photos of weird things, or making DIY objects — that you’ve never talked about before, and that could become the starting point for your talk?
Make it your own and don’t forget to have fun.
How personal or lighthearted your talk is is entirely up to you. Don’t forget to make jokes and laugh, because talking about art can easily become very serious. Nobody will judge you or criticise your work, so there’s no need to prove anything or be afraid of sharing your failures. You can relax, open up, and tell others how you really feel about your art.
Long live PowerPoint!
Did you also hate giving presentations at school? I did — that’s why I want to make this one fun. Finally!
No matter what you do artistically, prepare a short presentation in PowerPoint, Keynote, Canva, or any other format you like.
The presentation is meant to help you structure your story and showcase what you want to share with us. But don’t spend too much time designing it — keep it quick, short, and fun.
Each talk lasts 15 minutes. It will pass super fast, but it’s enough time to tell a story.
After exactly 15 minutes, I’ll give you a cue so you know when to wrap up and finish your talk.
Please send your presentation—or a link to it—to
listentoyourartnow@gmail.com at least two days before the meetup.
Timing
Venue & Timing
The meetup takes place at Reflektor Neukölln e.V.,Weisestraße 27. — just a 3-minute walk from U8 Leinestraße. It’s a cozy venue for around 20–30 people, with a small bar where guests can grab drinks for a small donation.
Doors open at 7 PM, and we start around 7:30 PM.
I’ll kick things off with a short, light intro — welcoming everyone, introducing the venue and speakers, and breaking the ice.
Equipment-wise, you don’t need to bring anything. A laptop with internet, a projector, and a sound system are all provided — you’re good to go.
Where and when:
Equipment-wise, you don’t need to bring anything. A laptop with internet, a projector, and a sound system are all provided — you’re good to go.
Just bring yourself and a good mood — everything else is already there.
It’s all about community.
Invite your friends and acquaintances, as well as anyone who would like to hear your story.
I’ll start promoting the meetup online about a week in advance, mainly on Instagram.
Feel free to repost or share it on your channels—every share helps more people discover your talk.
At the end of your presentation, be sure to include how people can contact you — share your website/social media links, bring flyers — promote yourself.
Promote yourself
One last thing: during your talk, I’ll take a few photos and send them to you the day after the meetup.
If you’re okay with it, I’ll also discreetly record the talk and upload it to YouTube a few days later—your stories deserve to be shared.
We can, of course, talk this through together before the meetup.
